I’m not sure who made the original decisions about which colors go well together or "match". I believe that Hashem (G-d) created the world with the idea that all colors should be used together. We have the rainbow; His ultimate contract to us, that there will never again be destruction. I think that the lesson in the colors is that continuity is built on togetherness, the togetherness of all the colors; of all the factions of light. These can be seen as factions of ourselves. They represent the different parts that make us up, banded together to build a strong self unit. I see this metaphor apply to both the individual and the group. A rainbow, which is an arch of color over color, can symbolize the necessity of unity and connection. Each color is necessary for the formation of the rainbow. They all reflect off the light at a different wave of energy, and are bonded together as one.
There is no such thing as a clashing color combination. When you look at nature, the colors coexist beautifully. There are orange, yellow and pink flowers, surrounded by red buds and green grass. The striking landscape I passed yesterday, had every color imaginable - all the flowers working together to enhance each other’s innate beauty and radiance.
We as individuals have our unique essence with different traits, personalities, character flaws and flairs made up of a rainbow of attributes. Sometimes the goal-oriented cool blue temperament shines bright. This ambition and determination paves the path for success and accomplishment. The green in us is the drive to go past our comfort zone and to work through challenges. Sometimes the colors blend together seamlessly, but other times some work may be needed to organize the our thoughts and our actions to create the harmony. The result of this hard work will be as beautiful as a rainbow.
In each of our worlds, the colors work together to formulate the uniqueness that defines me as me and you as you. They serve to represent the power we have as individuals and the force we are as a group.
